Opportunity based in Tonawanda NY.

Viatran () solves pressure and level measurement problems in some of the toughest application environments, including highly corrosive media, damaging cyclic pressure, and severe shock and vibration. Building on its roughneck heritage, Viatran is expanding its reach into food and medical equipment, chemical production, and automotive and aerospace test markets.

Viatran, is a subsidiary of Dynisco (), a wholly owned subsidiary of Roper Technologies, and will not use third party agencies and will not pay to relocate- you must be eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Dynisco is headquartered in Franklin, Massachusetts, with facilities in Tonawanda New York, Heilbronn, Germany and Malaysia.

The Buyer/Planner will manage select suppliers to ensure on time delivery at competitive pricing while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns*.* The Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling the workload in production, working directly with our sales, and purchasing teams to support our customers. Additionally, the Buyer/Planner is responsible for the selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company needs for materials and services.

**Essential Job Functions**

* Ensures products and services are purchased competitively

* Considers price, lead time, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise

* Acts as a vendor contact for developing and continuing existing vendor relationships

* Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities

* Releases, reschedules, or cancels purchase orders so that corporate inventory goals can be maintained

* Expedites orders and communicates order status effectively with vendors and inside departments

* Enters all pertinent vendor and purchase order information into the computer system

* Maintains accurate files of purchase orders, vendors, and vendor performance

* Ensures items are scheduled as required to meet the customer expectations

* Acts as a point of contact for production, purchasing and sales for status updates

* Releases, reschedules, or cancels work orders so inventory goals can be maintained, while not impacting our customer deliveries

* Expedites orders and communicates order status effectively with vendors and inside departments

* Enters all pertinent order information in the computer system

* Active participation in team-based culture and Lean initiatives including 5S program

* Maintain ISO department compliance

* Perform other duties as required

* Ensure punctual, reliable, and acceptable attendance

**Educational and Experience Qualifications**

* Associate degree in related field is desired or equivalent experience

* 1-2 years of purchasing and/or planning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

**Other Qualifications**

* Must be able to read and understand the bill of material (BOM) structure

* Ability to learn new software applications

* Detail oriented

* Action oriented - ability to follow a defined process with follow-up and follow through

* Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

* Ability to understand and follow instructions and work successfully with supervision

* Must possess basic math skills to compare prices and ensure that Viatran is getting the best deal

* Working knowledge in Microsoft Word & Excel

* Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills

* Basic negotiation skills

* MRP/ERP system experience is a plus

* Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English
