Job Summary:
Deli Kitchen Clerks provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service while assisting customers. They store, rotate, stock, prepare and display products in accordance with established practices. Deli Kitchen Clerks ensure compliance with food safety policies and practices. They also achieve daily operational goals related to sales and service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide services offered in the Deli area and respond promptly and politely to customer requests for assistance.
- Process ingredients, rotate, store, and display designated products in accordance with established practices, priorities, and recipes.
- Perform tasks at a pace that is consistent with department standards.
- Monitor food quality, record losses, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies throughout preparation, storage and display.
- Wash, sanitize and store cookware, utensils and containers in accordance with established practices and priorities.
- Maintain work stations and ensure cleanliness of department equipment, storage areas and display areas.
- Assist in training new staff on established systems.
- Achieve WFC customer service standards for internal and external customers.
- Contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment to support WFC's ENDS.
- Abide by all WFC policies and procedures.
- Engage in creating and maintaining a positive, ethical, and productive workplace that contributes to achieving progress on WFC's ENDS.
- Follow and ensure compliance with all safety practices and policies.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory guidance including but not limited to Minnesota Department of Agriculture and National Organic Standards.
- Achieve daily operational goals as directed by your supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness of department areas and equipment and communicate and document any equipment maintenance and/or safety concerns to department management.
- Report any problems with systems, tools and/or products to department supervisors.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by department management.
- Assist customers in finding product and/or information, promptly and courteously answer and accurately route phone calls, messages, and customer requests in compliance with established practices.
- As directed, move into back stock, rotate, stage, stock and/or merchandise products in accordance with shift criteria.
- Promote ownership and owner benefits consistently and positively.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in retail, grocery, natural foods and/or cooperative business
- Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays
- Experience in commercial food preparation, food safety, knife skills and cooking equipment
- Basic computer literacy including familiarity with using a web browser and email
- Ability to operate effectively within established systems and procedures
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple demands, work under time pressures and meet department work objectives
- Willingness to learn and perform all aspects of the position
- Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing conditions
- Demonstrate objectivity, neutrality and calmness under pressure
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively convey information
- Regular, predictable attendance
- Ability to occasionally move up to 50 lbs. throughout shift
- Ability to frequently move objects up to 15 lbs. throughout shift
- Ability to move around the premises
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Ability to handle scanning and bagging groceries
- Ability to operate position-required machinery
- Ability to safely use sharp cutting instruments
OccasionalExposure:
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Handling wet, hot, cold, and/or frozen products
- Change in room temperature
- Using store cleaning supplies
- Carts, pallets, and hand-trucks moving in and out of storage/retail areas
- Background music and in-store pages
- Food odors, grain and spice dust, food allergens
