Basic QualificationsBachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Responsibilities for this PositionGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Embedded Software Engineer.This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nations core defense/intelligence services and systems.General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.5+ years professional experience in software engineering and product developmentDemonstrated experience with embedded and real-time hardware environmentsSoftware development in C/C++, OOP/OODUnderstanding of embedded bus structures, processing, and I/O and memory chipsetsExperience working with both DOD SW development standards and Agile Engineering practicesCross functional collaboration and Product DevelopmentCustomer focus with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)Deep-dive analytical skillsAbility to think creativelyAbility to quickly synthesize and clearly report relevant informationStrong problem-solving skills to identify issues, impacts, and corrective actionsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and testing toolsFamiliarity with quality standards for industry and governmentREPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Perform embedded and real-time software designSupport the dev ops team through the development of automated unit tests to be included in the CI/CD environmentDevelop detailed plans with resource schedules and guide product development to delight customersDefine software architectureDefine/Capture project software development requirementsFollow the companys engineering and quality processes (Agile experience preferred)Develop software for embedded applicationsObject-oriented principles are preferredEstimate project software development effort and deliver on-timeReport progress using data and metricsActively find ways to innovateKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:A seasoned, experienced professional with a highly proficient understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories and expert at applying technical standards and methodologies to resolve a wide range of issues in creative waysCapable of working on problems of diverse scope requiring extensive analysis of data and evaluation of a multitude of factorsDemonstrates highly proficient judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutionsHighly proficient knowledge of the software development process as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theoriesHighly proficient knowledge of other related engineering and support disciplinesDetailed and highly proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product and process improvementsHighly proficient knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scriptingAbility to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master highly proficient decision-making skillsAbility to multi-taskHighly proficient ability to grasp and apply new information quicklyHighly proficient ability to handle significant responsibility, leadership and accountability while executing very complex assignmentsShows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with very little direction, or can provide direction and leadership to technical teamsExercises independent judgment and sometimes defines new procedures and practices to improve team and company performanceHighly proficient ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitmentsAdvocate and champion at applying company policies and procedures to resolve very complex issuesHighly proficient in Microsoft Office applicationsHighly proficient written and verbal communications skillsHighly proficient ability to recognize and clearly report relevant informationSkilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actionsHighly who is capable of providing technical leadership to an organizationFully proficient ability to use the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering productsNote: The compensation information listed is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules.
