Our Kessler's family is ever growing and we are looking for a dedicated Deli Showcase Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our deli showcase is stocked with fresh, high-quality products and presented in an attractive, customer-friendly manner. You'll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to food safety standards. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will be essential in ensuring a smooth operation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Showcase Maintenance & Cleanliness:
    • Ensure the deli showcase is fully stocked with fresh and appealing products (cheeses, meats, salads, and other deli items).
    • Regularly rotate and cull products to minimize waste, ensuring all items are within their use-by dates.
    • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the showcase, including proper labeling, pricing, and presentation.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable service to customers by helping them with product selection, offering suggestions, and answering questions.
    • Assist customers in customizing deli orders, including slicing meats and cheeses to their specifications.
  • Product Knowledge & Expertise:
    • Gain a solid understanding of the deli products, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
    • Provide recommendations and share product expertise with customers confidently.
  • Food Safety & Cleanliness:
    • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
    • Regularly clean and sanitize the deli area, including equipment, counters, and utensils.
    • Perform deep cleaning of the service case, coolers, and production area on a weekly basis.
  • Fast & Friendly Service:
    • Always engage with customers in a friendly, positive, and outgoing manner, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience.
    • Answer phones promptly with a professional greeting (name and department), and maintain a Customer First attitude.
  • Set Case to Standards:
    • Ensure the deli case is set according to the plan-o-gram (POG) by deadlines (9 AM and 4 PM) and is presented to display standards.
    • Ensure product is properly garnished, signed, and merchandised in a visually appealing way.
  • Labeling & Packaging:
    • Use scales, department codes, and packaging procedures to ensure products are labeled accurately and consistently.
  • Speedy Production & Efficiency:
    • Work with production speed and efficiency while maintaining quality.
    • Ensure all production goals are met in a timely manner without compromising product quality or customer service.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work with team members to ensure smooth operation and timely product replenishment.
    • Assist with other tasks as needed, including food prep, ordering, and department maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a deli, grocery store, or food service environment is preferred but not required.
    • Must be able to work between the hours of 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, including weekends and holidays.
  • Skills & Qualities:
    • Strong customer service skills and a positive, outgoing personality.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and cleanliness.
    • Knowledgeable about deli products, cutting standards, and product recommendations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Comfortable being the face of the department, and passionate about helping customers.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach for items in the deli display and storage areas.
