Job Description Answers telephones, screens and directs incoming phone calls, takes messages and responds to inquiries requiring knowledge of departmental operations and schedules in a professional manner. Interacts with Medical Center and non-Medical Center personnel in a professional and courteous manner. Russian/Polish speaking preferred.
Responsibilities
- Handles and prepares correspondence for department personnel as assigned
- Determines layout of documents and organizes same based on audience and word processing capabilities
- Possesses satisfactory knowledge of medical terminology
- Coordinates work and that of others, as required
- Facilitates staff activities based on personal observation and feedback form other personnel
- Ensures meeting times and appointments are clearly communicated, and are in accordance with other priorities, time-frames and dates desired
- Ensures that minutes of meetings are prepared in an effective manner based on accuracy and thoroughness of documentation
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work station
- Maintains a variety of departmental records and logs by manually writing information as well as entering information into computerized database
- Checks entries for accuracy and periodically compiles same into report format
- Maintains records in an orderly manner and in accordance with established record keeping system
- Ensures quality and timeliness with which materials are photocopied (based on extent to which materials are ready by time/date desired, appearance of photocopied materials)
- Opens, reviews, sorts, dates, stamps and distributes mail received
- Responds to routine and emergency inquiries in a timely manner
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Prior secretarial experience in a hospital or office environment
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $31.06 - $31.06 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
