The Office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Precinct Properties Branch (PPB) is responsible for all capital works renovation/restoration projects, mechanical and electrical upgrades, repairs and the day-to-day maintenance of the Legislative building and grounds. PPB is seeking a Project Manager who will lead and manage all phases of design, construction and conservation processes of the Legislative Assembly Building and grounds at Queen’s Park. As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Director of Precinct Properties, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of architects, engineers, conservators and researchers, and industry specialists driven by a singular goal to help preserve Ontario’s Legislative building while supporting the unique building program and functions. You’ll act with integrity to:

To oversee the design and construction/conservation of capital and non-recurring construction projects for the renovation/restoration of the historic Legislative Assembly Building at Queen’s Park. Ensure the achievement of overall project objectives; monitor design activities to ensure design and implementation are in accordance with relevant standards, policies, and procedures and that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. Demonstrate sound judgment, tact, discretion, and sensitivity to the political environment, as well as the ability to work quickly and under pressure. Coordinate the development and management of project implementation plans and critical target dates. You’ll support our collaboration as you:

Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams of professional, technical and administrative private sector consultants and construction contractors through all phases of project implementation Lead and manage all phases of design and construction of capital construction projects including major repair, retrofit, and alterations Oversee or produce the preparation of design and construction documents Provide Contract Administration services (PCN, CO’s, RFI’s etc…) for internally designed projects Coordinate internal and external resources for the development of detailed project requirements including preparation of scopes of work for request for proposals and request for tenders for consultants and contractors, review proposals Work collaboratively with other project managers, designers, and maintenance team members to effectively problem-solve complex building issues while balancing architectural, engineering, and heritage building priorities. Work with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

Exceptional project management skills with respect to complex capital and renovation projects, preferably with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the field of architecture. Experience with heritage buildings would be preferred. Equivalent university education with excellent practical knowledge of Architecture and/or Engineering and Heritage practices and principles. Membership in an accredited design, engineering or management association will complement your knowledge of design, project management administration, construction methodologies, and related legislation Demonstrated leadership, communication, and customer service skills Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD. Working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop would be considered an asset. Understanding of various construction contracts, having provided lead Contract Administration services for a wide range of projects, from $100,000 to multi-million dollar renovations. Understanding of design and construction legal practices and principals principles as related to owner, consultant and contractor relationships Ability to work in an environment that regularly functions with aggressive timelines and are able to manage several key priorities simultaneously Superior problem-solving, judgment and analytical skills In-depth working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable codes and standards Strong technical knowledge and organizational skills Here’s what awaits you:
