Senior Security Engineer

to join our security team This position can be based in Denver, CO; Beaverton, OR; or remotely. What You'll Do In this role, you will focus on conducting detailed and comprehensive security investigations, drive security incidents to closure, partner with DAT security product teams to improve capabilities and contribute to countless other projects that enhance the security and scalability of our detection and response services. We handle active security incidents and respond to threats from a variety of sources. This position requires that you work a rotational weekday and weekend shift schedule. Though schedule changes are not frequent, you will need to have flexibility to accommodate changes as needed. Conduct detailed comprehensive analysis and investigation on a wide variety of security events. Implement containment and mitigation processes, and drive incidents to closure. Collaborate with DAT security product and business groups to improve detections and product experience. Participate in projects designed to continuously improve service functions. Continuously fine-tune our detection pipeline to reduce false positives. Research and stay updated on emerging trends, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of threat actors. Security Engineer to help validate that our services, applications, and websites are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will be responsible for analyzing the security of applications and services, discovering, and addressing security issues, building security automation, and quickly reacting to new threat scenarios. You will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our cutting-edge services. Security Engineer must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. Engineers in this role are expected to participate fully in the planning of the AWS IT Security team's work and constantly seek opportunities for process improvement. You will have the combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle a mix of disparate tasks which may include project and software development work. Application security reviews. Mobile security reviews. Secure architecture design. Threat modeling. Projects and research work as needed. Security training and outreach to internal development team. Security guidance documentation. Security tool development. Security metrics delivery and improvements. Assistance with recruiting activities and administrative work. The Skills and Experience You'll Bring They should also have a deep understanding of at least one specialty for which they are a sought-out resource (both within AWS IT Security and by groups throughout Amazon), while understanding the application of Information Security in a broad range of technical areas. BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience with any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security. Minimum of 5 years of experience with security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or application security. Keen attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the capability to communicate with cross-functional teams. for this role is 140,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
