Job DescriptionThe Business Analyst Specialist provides the organization with operational support and delivery of new business demand, establishing priorities and alignment to business strategic objectives, ensuring delivery approaches and technology solutions result in business value and benefits realization. The role also provides a point of escalation for stakeholders to help build a strong IT-Business relationship. The Business Analyst Specialist delivers insight of system capability to support key decisions.Essential Functions:Engaging with Customers Responsible for building and maintaining a strong business-IT relationship with a key stakeholders and leaders to enable open communication and clear expectations regarding application development delivery. Engage with customers to understand their needs and ensure prioritization and alignment to business strategic objectives. Act as a point of escalation on active initiatives.Planning Prepares business cases working with business partners. Collaborates heavily with Program Managers to initiate large projects, including resource planning, estimation, governance, approval, and kickoff. Contribute to the approach for requirements elicitation and methods for requirements management and communication. Ensures business opportunities and objectives are clearly articulated. Performs feasibility analysis as required for projects.Analysis, Design, Execution Assists with process improvement and/or reengineering. Performs requirements elicitation, using techniques per plan. Documents requirements, establishes scope and objectives. Prioritizes requirements working with business partners and creates conceptual prototypes and mock-ups. Uses business process modeling, traceability and quality management techniques per methodology. Performs requirements management and communication; apply best practices for effective communication and problem-solving. Complies with Change Management practicesLeadership Will take on assignments for large projects, and others as assigned. Monitors the technical team solution to ensure requirements fulfillment and solution evaluation. In conjunction with Program Manager and business partners, manages strategy, approach and needs of incoming projects within function. Leads and coordinates activities associated with requirements management vehicles. Provides coaching to other BAs assigned to projects to successfully accomplish objectives.Measurement Performs and documents quality assurance testing. Facilitates and documents end user acceptance testing. Accountable for Service Level Agreements. Reviews and monitors the effectiveness of business analysis via outcomes and lessons learned. Provides status reports and health metrics to Program Manager on a regular basis.Additional Responsibilities: Performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.QualificationsTraining and Experience: Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university, with major course work in Information Technology, Business, or related area and six years of related progressively responsible experience. Experience in design, implementation, and support of commercial software (Oracle Fusion, Maximo, ArcGIS, DataSplice, Granite Net, Fleet and Fuel management, etc). Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Business educationExperience with ITIL framework and IT product methodologies.Familiarity with testing techniques and softwareBusiness acumen coupled with technical aptitudeExperience working on technology and application development projects including developing technical requirementsStrong data analysis skills, experienced in SQL and ExcelStrong listening skillsStrong research skills with attention to detailExperience developing functional and non-functional requirementsExcellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills; consultative approachAbility to conduct cost/benefit analysis and business case developmentRecognized within the organization as demonstrating expertise in business analysis methods and techniquesExperience working closely with team members during solution development and product launchExperience developing use casesExperience developing data and/or process flowsMust be able to work independently and proactivelyExcellent organizational, analytical, and independent problem-solving skillsDemonstrated successful performance with giving presentations to both small and large audiences, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within established and changing deadlinesAbility to contribute and collaborate effectively as a member of a highly-functioning and productive teamDemonstrated understanding of client relationship management, process mapping and improvement, project management, and production supportProven ability to provide business analysis to meet customer expectationsDemonstrated understanding of business analyst tools and techniques; demonstrated proficiency using MS Office and VisioSPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides.Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T.
