Participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the college, and collective interest of its staff and student body.Essential Duties: This position requires extensive hands-on interaction with faculty, staff, and students. As a result, this position requires physical presence to complete the essential duties found below.General:Plans, develops, and presents organized learning opportunities for students by approved course outlines in topics relating to their specific curriculumProvides students with technical instruction in a safe environmentCreates, administers, and corrects examsInvestigates and adopts strategies that improve teaching by reviewing available teaching resourcesParticipates in all aspects of program and department planning, including the establishment of goals and objectives to improve student success and program outcomesMaintains accountability of students and inventory in classrooms and office areasCurriculum:Prepares curriculum materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional materialsContributes, as appropriate, to program improvement and development to reflect current industry standardsCommunication:Assures effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibilityEstablishes a professional rapport with students, staff, and administration with respect for all partiesProvides adequate out-of-class communication opportunities with studentsParticipates in department and college meetings as appropriateParticipates in the work of the program advisory committeesRepresents the college to external constituencies as appropriateSeeks to promote a spirit of collegiality in dealings with college staffStudent, Assessment, Reporting, and Supporting:Assumes academic advising responsibilities for students within the faculty member's field of expertiseMaintains current and accurate academic progress, attendance, course grades, competency evaluations and tests, and disciplinary documentation (if applicable)Keeps accurate and complete student filesIs familiar with college assessment and placement procedures and aware of campus resourcesProvides accurate outcome data (i.e., withdrawal, graduation, placement, licensure) on all studentsParticipates in department and college activities designed to recruit, advise, and retain studentsLeadership/Professional Development:Provides leadership and demonstrates professional behavior in the learning environmentPromotes development of professional attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors among students through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observedDemonstrates respect for all students and college employeesCoordinates with the instructional team to resolve issues affecting student trainingMaintains relationship with industry partners to remain abreast of changes in the changing workforceFacility:Assumes responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environmentControls the use of equipment and supplies; recommends purchasesEnsures the safe use of instructional facilities and equipmentMaintains laboratory and equipment
