Overview

This is a full-time role at Christ Covenant. The purpose of this position is to lead discipleship efforts at Christ Covenant, particularly in the areas of community groups, cohorts, and other discipleship efforts. This position will report to the Executive Pastor, and the expectation would be for the Discipleship Director to eventually serve as a Pastor. Below are objectives that this position will be responsible for and accountable for during each of the performance review cycles:

Objectives

Community Groups

Lead the overall vision for community groups at Christ Covenant. Compose the sermon question curriculum for community groups each week. Visit community groups to participate in and contribute to ongoing groups. Plan, organize, and conduct training for community group leaders. Interview and vet new community group leaders. Regularly meet with Community Group Leaders to provide ongoing support. Plan, organize, and conduct orientations for new community group leaders. Plan a yearly group leader appreciation event.

Cohorts

Help organize and launch cohort groups each year. Review, edit and possibly write new cohort material. Manage cohorts throughout the year by keeping in contact with cohort leaders, troubleshooting any issues that arise, and ensuring cohorts are staying on track. Conduct a cohort check-in at the midway point of the year.

Men and Women's Ministry

Collaborate with Staff Pastors to conduct an annual Men's Ministry event (Spotted Cow). Oversee and execute irregularly called Men's Ministry events. Supervise Women's Ministry Director. Assist in casting overall vision for the Women's Ministry. Participate quarterly in Women's Lead Team meetings.

Resources

Manage the resource library to assist in Christ Covenant's overall discipleship efforts. Work with the Discipleship Coordinator to execute a resource emphasis strategy in keeping with the Emphasis Calendar. Provide resources to the group and cohort leaders to help them effectively and faithfully make disciples. Write and/or collaborate to produce resources such as cohort curriculum, group curriculum, Advent devotionals, etc.

Discipleship and Teaching Opportunities

Teach at groups when requested by group leaders. Teach at various adult discipleship meetings such as onsite groups, covenant institute classes, Spotted Cow, etc. Collaborate with other ministry departments (Young Adults, Students, Kids) in discipleship projects. Engage in personal discipleship opportunities as needed.

General

Perform other job duties as assigned. Oversee and manage direct reports (Women's Ministry Coordinator, Faith and Work Advisor, Discipleship Coordinator, Membership and Assimilation Coordinator) Manage relationships with staff, elders, and committees. Ensure that all work efforts align with the stated staff values of Christ Covenant

Education & Experience

Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher from a theological institution is highly preferred. Experience: personal, one-on-one discipleship experience is highly preferred. Also preferred is experience serving in a local church or ministry setting. Culture, Core Values, & Behaviors
