CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS
Under the general supervision of the Team Leader, performs unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual labor in the cleaning and maintenance of municipal property. Employees utilize a variety of hand tools and equipment. Routine tasks are often conducted in adverse environmental conditions. The incumbents work is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Performs inspections, minor maintenance and repair of allstreets, sidewalks, rope lights, car stop, pavers, railingand deck on Riverwalk, and elsewhere as needed throughout theCity, including Fishing Pier and dumpster enclosures.
2.Maintains city streets; hand sweeps sidewalks and streets.
3.Trims vegetation; pull weeds from planters, sidewalks andtrims trees.
4.Cleans city buildings restrooms; empty trash cans and recyclebins, cleans trucks; puts up and removes signs; removes deadanimals from city streets.
5.Pressure cleans and stains sidewalks as need, includinghandicap ramps and dumpster enclosures.
6.Completes work orders and install pole banners whenrequested.
7.Digs and levels land; spreads fill, rock, and sand.

REQUIREMENTS
A. Training and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in manual work recommended.
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license.
B. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.
Ability to follow oral and simple written directions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Skill in the use of tools and maintenance equipment.
C. Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve the regular and at times sustained performance of heavy physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, stretching and working in confined spaces, lifting, pushing, pulling moderate (50 pounds) to heavy (100+ pounds) items. Task involves the frequent use of coordinative and manipulative skills in performing a variety of tasks with the full range of eye-hand and power tools and shop equipment; or the skilled and complex operation of heavy equipment calling for adherence to exacting standards of depth, grade, dimensions, and contours.
D. Environmental Requirements:
Task may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
