Examines patient to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures. Cleans, fills, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical implements. Provides preventive dental services to patients, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, as well as education in oral and dental hygiene. Duties/Responsibilities: Treats patients of Hospital and its designated sites in a diligent, knowledgeable and skillful manner in accordance with currently acceptable standards of practice in his/her professional specialty, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and accrediting body standards. Consults with other dentists or physicians concerning matters outside his/her professional specialty. Serves as preceptor for residents in the Advanced General Dentistry residency program as requested by SCH in matters within Dentist’s professional specialty. Performs the duties specified herein at SCH or at other designated sites provided by the hospital. Complies with all policies, rules and regulations of SCH which are applicable to his/her duties. Shall actively support and participate in performance improvement to achieve excellent patient outcomes, customer satisfaction, teamwork, patient safety and efficient utilization of medical center outcomes. Maintains membership in good standing on the Medical Staff of SCH, maintains unrestricted licensure to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, maintains Board Certification in dentistry and attends staff conferences, committee and service meetings and shall comply with the constitution, bylaws, policies and procedures, and rules and regulations promulgated by the Medical Staff of SCH. Education: Doctor of Medical Dentistry. Experience: As required for certification by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry. Licensure/Certification: Certification in BLS, ACLS, licensed to practice dentistry in Kentucky.
