Cincinnati, United States CareerBuilder Full time

A leading developer in anaerobic digestion projects, specializing in waste-to-energy facilities across various markets in the U.S. Their primary objective is to divert pre-consumer organic waste from landfills, mitigating methane emissions while transforming organic materials into renewable natural gas (RNG). They are dedicated to offering industrial manufacturers a sustainable solution for managing organic waste and providing North American utilities with a dependable source of RNG.
By focusing on pre-consumer organic waste, they secure a consistent and substantial supply of input material from major food, beverage, and industrial manufacturers. Through contractual agreements, they accept customer's waste as feedstock, offering a cost-effective, environmentally friendly alternative to landfill disposal. Unlike post-consumer waste, pre-consumer waste streams enable greater efficiency and consistency in RNG production, meeting the growing demand for renewable resources in the U.S. Our plans include selling RNG production through off-take contracts with gas utilities, energy majors, and industrial purchasers.
While they are ideally looking for someone to base based out their office in Cincinnati, they are also willing to support remote work with travel to the office and or the project sites when needed.
Project Engineer Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to oversee the detailed design, engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases of our anaerobic digestion and organics-to-energy facilities. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed within budget and scheduling requirements, contributing to our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Role and Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Develop, manage, and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets throughout the project life cycle.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, equipment manufacturers, technical specialists, regulatory experts, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on project status to internal and external stakeholders.

Design and Engineering:
Lead the detailed design and engineering process for anaerobic digestion facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with third-party engineers and technical experts to optimize facility design for efficiency, operability, and maintainability.

Permitting and Compliance:
Obtain necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies to ensure timely project delivery.
Maintain expertise in industry policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance throughout all phases of the project.

Construction Oversight and Coordination:
Support Construction Manager with construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and quality control measures.
Collaborate with contractors to address construction-related issues promptly.

Commissioning and Start-Up Support:
Coordinate the commissioning process to ensure a smooth start-up of anaerobic digestion facilities.
Work with operations teams to transition projects from construction to full-scale commercial operations.
Coordinate staff on-boarding and feedstock deliveries to support project commissioning schedule.

Quality Control and Risk Management:
Implement quality control measures to ensure facility performance meets specifications.
Identify and mitigate project risks, offering innovative solutions to challenges as they arise.
Maintain project risk registers to track and mitigate risks throughout the project life-cycle.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Master's degree and/or Professional Engineering license is advantageous.
Minimum of 7 year's experience in engineering, permitting, and construction oversight of renewable energy projects, preferably in anaerobic digestion, waste-water, or waste-to-energy projects.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Strong project management skills, including budget and time-line management, and cross-functional team coordination.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to the company headquarters in Cincinnati and project sites as needed, with extended periods of travel expected during project start-up and commissioning phases.
