Our client is seeking a qualified Senior Cost Accountant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our accounting department, with a focus on cost accounting, inventory valuation, and process improvement. Client Details Our client is one of the largest and fastest growing multi-state, vertically integrated operators in North America within their industry. Description Assist Accounting Managers in driving the Month-End Close process for multiple entities. Participate and at times supervise daily accounting department tasks. Prepare and/or review ledger entries and accruals, with a focus on cultivated and manufactured inventory and related costs of production. Ensure completeness and accuracy of balance sheet and profit/loss accounts, databases, and files. Collaborate with Accounting Managers and other internal departments to design, document, implement, and monitor processes related to costs of production. Perform ad hoc analysis and projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system (Epicor/Wherefour). Work closely with the Accounting Manager, Controller, and external auditors during quarter and year-end close. Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activities. Review and provide analysis of significant variances in actual to standard manufacturing costs. Make estimates of new and proposed product or service costs. Recommend cost efficiencies to senior management and execute agreed-upon directives. Develop and deliver management reporting and analysis of manufacturing efficiency performance. Analyze changes in product packaging, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs. Drive continuous improvement programs to reduce product costs through interaction with Operations. Support all accounting month-end and year-end processes, completing required journal entries and analysis. Profile Bachelor's degree with a concentration in business or accounting. CPA preferred. Experience with or master's degree in Supply Chain Management, and/or CMA preferred. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience, is preferred. Manufacturing and Cost Accounting experience is required. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it relates to inventory. Experience or exposure to areas of accounting including accounts payable, accruals, reserves, and inventory valuation. Comprehensive understanding of inventory manufacturing processes, retail sales processes, sales and use tax, and public company audit compliance. Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using and/or implementing an ERP system and/or accounting software. Epicor and/or Wherefour experience is preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Self-starter with an emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and work product ownership. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines. Professional written and verbal communication skills with multiple levels and departments. Analytical, detail-oriented, and honest.
