The primary role of the IT Administrator is to oversee and maintain all aspects of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska's computer infrastructure. This includes maintaining networks, servers and security programs and systems. IT Administrator manages the upgrade and installation of new hardware and software, performs troubleshooting to address any problems with computer systems, and assess viruses and potential threats to the organization's network. IT Administrator also monitor the use of email, create and change passwords, make suggestions for improvements to computer systems, backup data and perform data recovery if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organization's IT systems and department.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Ensures that monitoring operations comply with all applicable government regulations and standards.
  • Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Ensures that monitoring operations comply with all applicable government regulations and standards.
  • Drafts checklists, processes, and support trees, and knowledge bases for help desk and other support staff.
  • Monitors the assigned network, ensuring optimal function and minimal downtime.
  • Monitors and analyzes network load including traffic and utilization trends.
  • Oversees the work of technical support staff as they manage network hubs, routers, and servers.
  • Facilitates and manages the development, modification, and operation of security protocols including intrusion detection and prevention systems to protect the organizations information from breach or loss.
  • Hires and trains IT staff.
  • Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with organization policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in computer systems with at least three years specializing in computer security.
  • At least three years of experience with LAN and WAN technologies, including multiple network operating systems, topologies, and protocols, required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Thorough understanding of networking protocols, LAN networking, and WAN networking.
  • Proficient, or able to gain proficiency with, a broad array of security software applications and tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed to maintain reports and records.
