Position Summary

The Lead Clinician will be responsible for crisis care, case management service delivery, individual rehabilitation activities, day-to-day skills building, transportation to shopping and appointments and all other aspects required to help the consumer succeed. The Lead Clinician will be part of an on-call coverage rotation for after-hours calls and may be required to transport consumers in his or her privately owned vehicle. Under direction of the Team Leader, the Lead Clinician provides trauma informed staff training, assessment, diagnoses, counseling, and provides social-psychotherapeutic treatment, rehabilitation, and care coordination for Adults and Older Adults; and performs related duties as part of the Supportive Community Services Leadership Team as required.

Hours/ Salary

Full-time, exempt position. Anticipated hiring range is $93,600-$97,000 annually. Includes a generous individual benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life, 403b retirement (with up to a 5% employer match) paid vacation/holiday time, paid sick time and a variety of helpful employee perks as well. (*Full Salary Schedule $93,600-$108,160)

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Adhere to MHSA provisions which include bringing individual competencies to the team in order to enhance the team's ability to connect with consumers of all types. The Lead Clinician will bring their clinical background and experience to enhance and help lead the team.

2. Provide a wellness-centered approach to providing services such as; holding and providing hope for recovery, even when the consumer has lost his/her ability to do so. Human centered services that require listening and responding in a therapeutic, educational, and often personal manner. Delivering services with a "whatever it takes" approach, working with team members to be creative in delivering services and working with consumers in all aspects of their recovery.

3. Promote, encourage and maintain trauma-informed practices in all services and activities. Practice and promote, both individually and in team meetings, TMHA's Collaborative Communication Guidelines in order to facilitate clear, empathetic and person-centered communication.

4. Participate in and lead trainings in proven systems of service delivery including co-occurring disorders, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and ongoing discussions with the team that promote a learning environment.

5. Work with and train team members that are consumers of mental health services and/or are recovering from drug or alcohol abuse.

6. Participate in weekly Community Treatment and Services (CTS) meetings. Assess, then interview potential clients to assess requirements for SCS services or referral elsewhere; counsel or provide psychotherapeutic, educational, and rehabilitation services for individuals, couples, or members of a family to assist them in achieving productive social adjustments reducing the impact of disabling disorders, and facilitate the achievement of family, vocational, recreational, and interpersonal goals.

7. Document clinical activity presenting diagnostic and interview findings, clinical evaluations, and recommendations as a member of an interdisciplinary team; review the treatment plans and assessments of staff; assign staff caseloads.

8. Provide crisis counseling, in the field and in the office, for individuals experiencing acute episodes; evaluate consumers, and arrange for voluntary or involuntary admission to facilities for observation and treatment.

9. Confer with and advise clients' relatives to secure their understanding of and cooperation in treatment and rehabilitation programs.

10. Perform the duties of a case manager by coordinating services for clients to assure continuity of care and assure that clients receive appropriate types of service.

11. Learn and become proficient in Smart Care and Microsoft Suite. Will utilize Microsoft Teams daily for logging client interactions and communication with the team.

12. Will collaborate and consult with Santa Maria Clinical staff regularly

13. Provide transportation to clients as determined by the daily schedule and the needs of the client.

14. Cooperate and work with other agencies and practitioners.

15. Educate clients, and their families regarding their diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and rehabilitation process.

16. Assist clients to obtain stable housing, physical health care, benefits and entitlements, and to learn basic living skills.

17. Participate in ongoing quality assurance and program evaluations. Collaborates with TMHA's QA department to ensure the programs compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality laws.

18. Assist with interviewing, hiring and training of new staff.

19. Works in conjunction with Team Leader to manage daily operations and provides oversight and management to staff.

20. Fills in for Team Leader upon their absence

21. Provides individual, group and family therapy and carries therapy caseload for the program.

22. Provides clinical supervision to associates within TMHA.

23. Facilitates various training as appropriate to agency personnel and the community.

24. All other duties as assigned.

Job Environment:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  2. Frequent driving required that will include the transportation of TMHA clients.
  3. Daily and frequent documentation of client services on the computer.
  4. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  5. Involves moderate risks that require safety precautions and the risk of exposure to potentially intense situations.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC); or a registered California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Associate progressing toward licensure preferred. Working knowledge of: assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, counseling, and psychotherapeutic treatment of marriage, family, and child relationship dysfunctions; methods of developing and implementing a treatment plan; human service delivery system; current trends in the field of mental health; and laws and regulations applicable to mental health. Ability to: perform effective counseling and psychotherapy with individuals, families, and groups; develop and maintain cooperative relationships with clients' families, members of other professional disciplines, social service agencies, and co-workers; relate professionally with persons with serious mental disorders; identify and utilize community resources; prepare and present clear and concise oral and written reports. Must have experience working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in a safe living environment; develop a meaningful role in the community; and have access to competent and continuous supports and services. Must have a strong commitment in clients' rights to self-govern and create their own choices. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and oral/written communication skills. Well defined organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and flexible. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision-making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level. Must be responsible and reliable and possess problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work well within a team and maintain a professional, respectful attitude in the workplace. Conditions of employment include: Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health. Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid CA Driver's License, at least 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA's current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees. Ability to work well within a team and maintain a professional, respectful attitude in the workplace. Ability to be willing to work with supervisor oversight and direction. Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
