Position SummaryThe Transmission Engineer position holds the responsibility for the safe, reliable, and economic round-the-clock operation of the electric transmission system. Duties include engineering responsibilities for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation activities of our electric transmission lines, producing design packages for electric transmission capital projects required to ultimately provide service and increased reliability to our customers, generating project estimates & schedules, participating in root cause analyses, studying encroachment cases, developing & managing contracts for labor and materials, making site visits to monitor construction activities, and other engineering activities as they arise.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesPlans, designs, and oversees construction of electric transmission linesAnalyzes existing transmission lines for conductor upgrades and communications cable additionsResearches and studies new technologies, methods, and equipmentDrafts, finalizes, approves, accumulates and issues drawings, material lists, manuals and schedules for construction and revises transmission records to reflect as-built conditionsCoordinates, schedules and plans transmission project activities and provides technical supportSpecifies, requisitions, and approves material for transmission projectsDevelops, approves, and maintains material specifications and construction standardsDevelops design processes and proceduresProvides transmission project budget estimates and monthly spending projectionsWrites construction contracts and manages contractors on projectsEstimates quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibilityUses SAP to determine project costs, order material and monitor project progressParticipates in routing & siting projectsSupports COSA Civic Projects where transmission towers and/or lines are in conflictReviews encroachment requests for customers and developersPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum SkillsOral/Written CommunicationsPersonal Computer UsageProject ManagementMinimum Knowledge and AbilitiesPossesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in this field to complete duties and assignments.Demonstrated mastery of engineering discipline skillsAbility to lead cross-functional business initiatives and teamsDemonstrated ability to effectively handle a broad range of engineering assignments with minimum supervisionAbility to lead cross-functional teams on internal projectsDemonstrated ability to manage project costs, timeline, scope, and risksAbility to effectively check work product for adequacy, quality and accuracyEffective communication skills focused on understanding customer needs and developing resolutionStrong people skills, with bias for a collaborative working styleAbility to work call duty and occasional unscheduled work in the evenings, weekends, or holidays after experience level permitsAbility to travel occasionally, to off-site work, to seminars, manufacturing plant inspections, etc.Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and schedulingPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree from an accredited universityExperience with Bentley MicroStation softwareExperience with PLS-CADD softwareExperience with SAP softwareRead the full posting.#J-18808-Ljbffr
