With a heritage of technological excellence, our team serves customers in the communications, defense, medical, industrial, and scientific markets.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (YEARS):Associate's degree or equivalent is recommended plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.Welding certification preferred.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Welds metal components together with brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machine parts, and plant equipmentPerforms welding processes on aluminum and/or steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloysMust be able to pass welding certification testsPerforms related tasks such as thermal cutting and grindingRepairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal partsLocates and repairs cracks in products and equipmentMaintains clean work areaOperates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinning machines, duplicating, and profile machines, brakes and shearsDetermines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specificationsMay monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control proceduresTrains less experience employees to build quality product within the time standardParticipates in continuous improvement meetings, and shares knowledge for improvement actionsUnder minimal supervision, interprets drawings, sketches, and/or preliminary designs, and produces weldments from that interpretationInteracts with employees and managers across the companyMay need to operate a vehicle or forkliftWork done with minimal supervisionWork may be done without established proceduresKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong reading comprehension skills to understand drawings, work orders or written instructionsStrong mathematical skills to perform basic calculationsStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong interpersonal skills to cooperate and work effectively with othersAbility to work under time pressureAbility to work independentlyStrong time management skillsAbility to delegate workStrong leadership skillsWHAT WE OFFER:Whether you are a seasoned professional or just embarking on your career, CPI is an ideal place to expand your knowledge and expertise.
