- 0-5 years of experience in design / operation of industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia)
- Texas Engineer-in-Training Certification (preferred)

What is the work?

Ammonia Refrigeration:

  • Assists senior engineering staff and leadership in evaluation of third-party design proposals and provides guidance for appropriate equipment selection
  • Periodically reviews performance and operational history of assigned systems with IFS and Manufacturing maintenance teams; uses CMMS system data to validate strategy and inform capital planning
  • Observes new construction and capital replacement work to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and industry standards
  • Applies experience and knowledge of ammonia refrigeration system operation and maintenance to aid in troubleshooting and repair of routine performance and operational issues
  • Supports senior engineer in development of 5-year capital plan for industrial refrigeration equipment

Steam Systems:

  • Provides basic design and operation assistance to ensure safe serviceability and maintenance of steam systems and components
  • Understanding of applicable ASME codes (BPVC) for steam generation, boilers and steam process plumbing
  • Ability to understand and apply rules and regulations regarding boiler systems from TDLR, City of Houston and owners insurance underwriter
  • Design and evaluate basic system components, to include pipe sizing, energy load calculations, pressure drops, stress analysis, flow calculations and component selection
  • Assist in evaluation, specification and sourcing of components to control and handle metered steam delivery and condensate systems

Project Management:

  • Visits project sites; recognizes / documents / resolves issues to comply with design intent and construction documents
  • Provides outstanding customer service that delivers effective solutions to meet customer needs
  • Executes clear work plans, processes, and actions to support H-E-Bs overall strategies and best interests, and achieve results
  • Provides expertise to cross-functional teams

What is your background?

  • Bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering (ABET accredited program)
  • 0-3 years of industrial refrigeration experience in plant environments
  • Texas Engineer-in-Training certification (EIT / FE) (preferred)
