Cleanroom Technician

**Job Title: Cleanroom Technician**

**Job Description**

Work in the grinding room grinding nutrition feed, alfalfa, and silage samples into bags. Candidates will utilize either an electric grinding machine or manual food processing machine. Operate manual mixer (like a kitchen mixer) to grind up the feed, alfalfa, and silage samples. Alternatively, operate electric grinder, take silage samples, insert them into the machine, and use safety mallets to push the sample into the device. Pour material into mixer, press button, and set time for each batch being ground up. Label and organize finished ground-up samples for storage and lab testing. Vacuum out mixer to clean between samples. Requires standing in one area for extended periods, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. This role is very repetitive and monotonous but requires attention to detail to ensure correct labeling of samples. Candidates will be trained on all aspects and perform various sample processing tasks for the research group, including grinding, separating, labeling, and cleaning. A couple of people will help in prepping the samples onto moving racks to prepare them for the grinding machine area.

**Work Site**

This is a fully on-site position in Johnston, Iowa.

**Work Environment**

Must be able to work in a warm and dusty area (not conducive to people with allergies or asthma) where hearing, eye protection, and face masks are required (provided at work site). Requires working in close proximity to others (face masks provided/optional). 1st Shift: 7 am - 3 pm Monday-Friday, with a 30 min lunch and 15 min breaks. Overtime: Volunteers are preferred to work until 4:30 pm 2-3 times a week. Dress code: safety glasses, hearing protection provided, closed-toe shoes, shorts or jeans, work-appropriate shirt. No smoking allowed on campus. The environment is very dusty, loud, and dirty, with all necessary safety equipment provided. Team size during the busy season is around 10-15 people.
