DescriptionSpeciality Clinic Receptionist Reports to: Nurse Manager POSITION SUMMARY:This is a clerical position responsible for scheduling patient appointments, answering and directing phone calls, faxing, email correspondence, scanning and other clerical duties as assigned. This position requires an individual that is confidential, dependable, organized, pleasant, self-motivated and able to work well with patients, families, and peers.ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: 20 hours weekly, Part-time benefitedRequirementsEducation:Required: High School diploma or equivalent.License/Registration/Certification:Experience:Previous medical office experience preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of data entry equipment and of office practices and procedures.Skill in typing and data entry with minimal errors. Skill in the operation of office equipment including, but not limited to fax machine and computer terminal.Ability to work in a high-volume office with many interruptions throughout the day.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with staff, patients and visitors.Ability to understand and follow instructions.Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.Ability to analyze and solve work related problems.Ability to take initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Schedules patient appointments with accuracyConfirms appointments with patients as directed. Answers the telephone - taking complete messages, answering questions and directing calls.Greets and directs patients, families and the general public.Provides general clerical support. Attends training sessions and department meetings. Completes assigned training in a timely manner. Engages in department goals and action plans.Communicates in a way that is empathic and compassionate, dedicated to connecting with people, reducing patient and family anxiety, earning people's trust, engagement, confidence, and partnership.Embraces the process of recognizing problems and taking a positive approach toward problem solving, learning from mistakes by correcting them, and approaches quality issues as challenges to improve their product or service.Supports the financial health of Cherokee Regional.Demonstrates the necessary technical capabilities and skills while actively pursuing the critical knowledge and personal growth to succeed in the role.
