Kansas City, United States Children's Mercy KC Full time

Thanks for your interest in Children's Mercy:

Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Childrens Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Childrens Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in childrens health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview:

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is recruiting a full-time board certified/board eligible general pediatrician or board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with strong clinical skills and an interest in academic medicine. The candidate will participate in clinical, educational, and quality improvement initiatives within the Division. Mastery of skills such as professionalism, team-based care, care of children with medical complexity, and effective communication are mandatory.

The Division is made up of greater than 40 physicians and 6 hospital medicine fellows. Physicians in the Division hold a wide variety of leadership roles throughout the institution, including in the areas of Graduate Medical Education, Medical Administration, Medical Informatics, Performance Improvement, and the Center for Wellbeing. Our division supports the individual professional desires of each partner while supporting the wellbeing of each of our team members.

The clinical practice is primarily at our tertiary care facility described below. There will be additional opportunities to work at our CMH community site, which is also included below.

Childrens Mercy Hospital is an urban, tertiary care/academic childrens hospital with full pediatric medical/surgical support. Our faculty provides two distinct types of clinical service:

  • 24/7 direct care on a hospitalist-only team comprised of medically complex and diverse general pediatric patients. Fellows, medical students, and residents on elective may be part of the team.
  • Attending supervision of academic teams of residents and students. The supervision of residents on academic teams is restricted to board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalists.

Childrens Mercy Kansas is a unique, free-standing community childrens hospital located 12 miles southwest of Childrens Mercy Hospital. The hospital serves a breadth of pediatric diagnoses with lower acuity than our main campus. Clinical service on this campus offers a complementary clinical experience, featuring a professionally stimulating, direct interaction with pediatric professionals in our busy on-site pediatric emergency department, as well as in our community referral area.

Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.
