Job Title - Software Engineer 2 We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in building DevOps platforms for our customers with these skills: Java, Familiarity with cloud technologies & distributed systems fundamentals Job Description We build tools and services for new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our mission is to give our customers best-in-class DevOps services to manage their code, build and deployments within OCI. We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in building DevOps platforms for our customers. As a Software Engineer 2 you will participate in design and development of Oracles DevOps Services. You should be a rock solid coder and have passion to learn new technologies. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion. As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture. Responsibilities The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. OCI is committed to providing the best in cloud products that meet the needs of our customers who are tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges. As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of software engineers responsible for the software design, development, and operations of OCI DevOps services. You should be able to understand broad systems interactions, be hands-on, be able to dive deep into any part of the stack, and have a good sense of cloud infrastructure and networking knowledge. You should value simplicity and impact, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and productive; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You understand operational excellence and know-how to infuse a culture of being proactive within your team and is willing to support on-call. You have the ability to recommend and justify changes to new and existing products and establish consensus with data-driven approaches. Basic Qualifications: 1-5 years of experience as a Software Developer Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering. A degree in Computer Science would be a big plus Strong knowledge of Java and experience with scripting languages such as Python. Willingness to perform DevOps and support on-call as well. Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to deliver quality code Good knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining services on a public cloud platform (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure) Prior DevOps exposure is a plus Experience working on multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IAC) languages, preferably Terraform is a bonus Familiarity with host virtualization technologies (KVM, Containers, Docker, etc.)
