JOB TITLE: Landscape & Grounds Maintenance CoordinatorFLSA Classification: Non-ExemptDEPARTMENT: FacilitiesREPORTS TO: Vice President of FacilitiesREVISED: 07/11/2024SALARY STRUCTURE: Hourly Wage, Bonus, Profit Sharing, and BenefitsJOB SUMMARYWorking with the Head Office facilities staff, Property Managers, and on-site Landscape Technicians, the Horticulturist serves the residents of all Far West Managements apartment communities by ensuring the aesthetic integrity of the propertys landscape and grounds. Responsible for conducting grounds inspections and ensuring that the landscape meets Far West Managements safety, quality, and aesthetic standards. The position also serves as a scheduler and trainer of Landscape Technicians for all Far West properties in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESGeneralLead by example to demonstrate the spirit of THE ASPENS, a philosophy of integrity, hard work, sincere concern for the properties and their residents, and a striving for excellence.Implement water conservation programs.Diagnose and treat common garden insects, diseases, and weeds,Implement sustainable gardening practices.Property InspectionsPerform monthly inspections and grade all properties landscapes and grounds to ensure compliance with company standards. Report the results to the Vice President of Facilities.Initiates and ensures completion of work orders for deficiencies identified during monthly inspections.Identifies and resolves hazards and safety issues affecting the propertys residents and employees.Grounds MaintenanceEnsures that all work is performed according to company standards.Assists with evaluating prospective new hire Landscape Technicians.Determines the appropriate trees, plants, and shrubs for walkways or garden areas.Design and implement a green waste composting program.Work with outside vendors to assist with determining appropriate landscape lighting requirements.Provide training to new and existing Landscape Technicians.Ensures that dress code and safety standards are met.Schedules and oversees necessary preventative maintenance to ensure asset protection and preservation.Works with and coordinates subcontractors as needed.Responsible for controlling landscape expenditures and identifying cost savings.Ensures that all landscape supplies inventories are kept current, and all landscape storerooms are neat and organized.OtherConducts regularly scheduled safety training.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma.A minimum of five years experience in landscape operations or equivalent experience.Expertise in horticulture.Knowledgeable about plant taxonomy, California native plant species, plant nutrition, and fertilization.Knowledgeable about irrigation methods and demonstrated ability to design and implement water conservation programs.Proficiency with MS Office and Yardi property management software.Willingness to regularly travel to Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside County properties.Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
