Introduction:

Our client is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for a long-term program to support an IC customer in Chantilly, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI full-scope polygraph clearance. Our client seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to provide data science and data engineering services, including developing data models, data ingestion/transformation, analytics, and machine learning.

The work will involve creating data engineering pipelines, developing REST APIs and microservices, and cleaning, parsing, and transforming data from multiple file types into appropriate database architectures. The engineer will also develop and deploy feature enhancements using Python, ensure compliance with security policies, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Work Requirements:

1. Create data science and data engineering products, including data models, data ingestion/transform, analytics, and machine learning.

2. Develop robust data engineering pipelines utilizing Apache Nifi and Python, including use and development of REST APIs and microservices.

3. Clean, parse, and transform data from multiple file types into appropriate database architectures.

4. Develop, deploy, and provide feature enhancements using Python for data science products and services.

5. Ensure technical development and content complies with Customer's security policies and regulations.

6. Review and track data science and data engineering requirements and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

7. Consult with stakeholders to determine present and future user needs for Customer consideration.

8. Communicate and collaborate across organizational boundaries, including other staff and contractor teams.

9. Work with Customer staff, contractor personnel, and external stakeholders on mission-based projects.

10. Implement data science and data engineering requirements as defined by the Customer.

11. Utilize project management systems such as Confluence and JIRA to define and track requirements.

12. Ensure that technical solutions leverage industry best practices and design for security and excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership.

Mandatory Skills & Experience:

1. Demonstrated on-the-job experience developing Python programming packages to include REST APIs and microservices.

2. Demonstrated experience developing and testing reusable Python code.

3. Demonstrated experience with machine learning techniques including natural language processing and computer vision.

4. Demonstrated on-the-job experience using Linux flavored operating systems (OS) and with automating work flows using Bash scripting.

5. Demonstrated experience using data engineering tools such as Apache Nifi to preprocess, modify, aggregate, load, index, and archive large data collections.

6. Demonstrated experience performing the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of structured and unstructured data into pipelines to ensure it is ingested into downstream systems with accuracy, reliability, and consistency at scale.

7. Demonstrated experience modeling, structuring, cleaning, and conditioning data from multiple sources and in multiple different formats, languages, and encodings.

8. Demonstrated experience using Elasticsearch and Kibana technologies.

9. Demonstrated experience using code repositories such as Git.

10. Demonstrated experience developing robust documentation for code, Python packages and data science methodologies.

11. Demonstrated experience explaining complex technical issues to more junior data scientists, in graphical, verbal, or written formats.

12. Demonstrated experience delivering results to stakeholders through written documentation and oral briefings.

13. Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

1. Demonstrated experience with cloud services, such as AWS.

2. Demonstrated experience using big data processing tools such as Apache Spark or Trino.

3. Demonstrated experience using container frameworks such as Docker or Kubernetes.

4. Demonstrated experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau.
