Pharmacy Technician I Location: Columbia, South Carolina Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. The Pharmacy Technician I reports to the Pharmacy Manager. Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician I supports the drug distribution activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services. Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP). This technician must complete the PTCB board certification exam and pass within 6 months of hire. If the Technician I care team member has not attained PTCB certification within one year of employment (during the probationary period) they will be separated from service. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking. Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, and work outside in temperature extremes. Ability to work from elevated areas and in confined spaces. Ability to perform gross motor activities, firm grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive motions. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensory functions. Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations and work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
