Your primary responsibilities would include checking in patients for appointments, collecting patient co-pays, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, and checking insurance eligibility. Patient Service Representatives utilize our electronic record system to verify and update patient demographic information as well as posting and balancing of payments collected. Patient Service Representatives are friendly and provide excellent customer service, assuring that patients are informed and well cared for while waiting for their appointment, creating a positive experience for patients.About the clinic:This clinic is located at 5966 Curtisian Avenue and provides compassionate care to patients with complex medical conditions. From annual wellness visits to chronic disease management, our team works closely together to provide the highest quality care for our patients, so they can enjoy the highest quality of life. The clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredPrevious customer service experience required. Healthcare experience preferred. Electronic health record (EHR) experience a plus. Medical terminology preferredExperience with process improvement or lean philosophy preferredOur Ideal Candidate: is friendly, detail oriented, a quick learner and has a passion for providing a high quality customer service experience to our patients. He or she will also need to utilize excellent communication skills while communicating with patients and families both in person and on the phone. The ability to provide superior customer service while utilizing independent decision making skills will be essential in this position.What You Will Do:Acknowledges and greets patients immediately, providing a positive customer service experienceRegisters patients for appointments and completes paperworkVerifies and updates existing patient and insurance informationKeeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrivalInforms patients immediately of delays, explains why, and the anticipated wait timeCollect, record, and communicate to patients their responsible balances for visit, diagnostic testing, supplies, etc.Maintain knowledge of different payer practices and deductiblesAssist patients with all aspects of Financial Assistance PaperworkControl credit extended to patients via a payment planMaintain business office inventory and equipment and order suppliesMaintain a neat work area including the reception areaOptimize patient's satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephoneHandles multiple telephone lines effectively and politely per clinic standardsUpdates patient personal and insurance information, and notifies patients to bring insurance cards, identification, and co-payment to appointmentMail patient paperwork to new patients prior to appointmentInteracts with patients via Patient PortalScan incoming patient related documents into EHRAbility to process incoming and outgoing referral requestsFiles incoming medical reports and correspondenceAssembles new patient medical records in accordance with policies and proceduresEnsures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient recordsReceives, processes, and documents referral requests to and from the officeSorts incoming faxes via Right Fax and routesReceives and routes record requests from others and makes requests on behalf of providers/patientsHighlights and Benefits: When Saint Alphonsus takes care of you, you can take better care of our patients.
