The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. Achieves cooperation, teamwork and high morale between departments and staff by maintaining a positive, attentive and interactive manner. Responds to staff, visitors, patients and physicians question in a timely manner. Consults with staff, physicians, administration and Nurse Executive on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met. Intervenes in conflict situations while showing support, trust and respect to all concerned while maintaining confidentiality 100% of the time. Maintains costs and appropriate staffing ratios. This position assists in contributing to the hospital's philosophy, objectives, educational and Performances Improvement efforts, while providing supervision to staff assigned to his/her shift.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in psychiatric nursing management; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the IndianaBoard of Nursing
Additional Requirements: Thorough knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification and successful completion of training in CPI within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures. Must pass a medication administration exam.
