Assists in reporting and controlling the Hutchinson Regional system accounting and financial operations.
The Sr. Financial Analyst conducts and documents complex financial analysis to assist in strategic financial decisions and plays a key role in supporting and developing overall financial analysis. Understanding the true cost of each episode of patient care is fast becoming mission-critical for our hospital and healthcare system. Analysis areas include, but are not limited to cost accounting, episode of care, physician and service line/medical specialty, capital projects as well as supporting new financial analysis projects as they become available.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Implements and maintains the hospital DSS Cost Accounting software program generating and analyzing reports at various levels of detail including service line financials, providing interpretation of cost data to decision makers, performing research and analysis for financial/clinical areas and serving as a resource to department managers.
* Plans, organizes, develops, implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures which are necessary for providing a sound accounting system.
* Preparation of Annual and or Rolling Projections and Budgets.
* Recommends changes or modification to the accounting system as from time to time appear desirable.
* Reviews, analyzes and interprets financial and statistical data for the Vice President, Finance and Management Team.
* Development of metrics and benchmark data.
* Experience in cost accounting calculations (RVUs, RCC, Micro costing), budgeting and financial software.
* Basic understanding of hospital patient accounting, revenue cycle, and reimbursement practices.
* Assists in maintaining the Decision Support System and preparing and analyzing reports at various levels of detail for decision makers.
* Implements and maintains the hospital DSS Budgeting software. Assist in preparation of the annual salary, non-salary, and statistical budget.
* Become an SME in all financial applications.
* Assist with maintaining the general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, review of the coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, etc., as necessary or instructed.
* Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Knowledge of principles of accounting
* Strong computer skills
* In-depth knowledge of Finance/Accounting System
* Strong financial analysis skills
* Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Healthcare industry experience preferred

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Two or more years Finance/Accounting experience
* Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Relevant hospital or healthcare experience
* CPA and/or MBA
