I have an exclusive opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to become a part of team in the Hospitality Industry
Position Summary
The Human Resource (HR) Manager position is responsible for overseeing and executing critical functions of the Human Resources department including administering benefits, leaves of absence, maintaining the HR system of record, and enforcing compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety. The HR Manager will enhance the organization's vision by planning and implementing various HR initiatives in accordance with the goals of the company. Will manage a small team of 2 or more Jr. HR people.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Benefits Management : Oversee team member benefit programs (health, wellness, EAP, 401k), collaborate with brokers for benefit changes, and handle all related administration tasks.
HR System Maintenance : Maintain and enhance the HR system to ensure user-friendly experiences.
401k Administration : Manage the company’s 401k plan, including eligibility, contributions, and compliance testing.
Data Reporting : Provide accurate HR data reports regularly and develop new reports to support decision-making.
Leave Administration : Facilitate the leave process for all team members.
Policy Development : Assist in creating and updating company policies, procedures, and handbooks.
Employee Relations : Offer support and counseling for restaurant and support center staff, including conflict resolution.
Safety Program Oversight : Lead Workers’ Compensation and safety programs, focusing on injury reduction and safe work practices.
Incident Management : Handle guest incident claims and collaborate with directors to maintain a safe environment.
Recruitment Support : Aid in recruiting efforts, job description updates, new hire orientations, and conduct training workshops.
Rewards and Recognition : Oversee programs to foster team building and recognize employee achievements.
Compliance Reporting : Compile and report on EEO-1, CA DFEH Pay Data, and other required reports.
Strategic Planning : Contribute to setting departmental goals and HR initiatives and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
Job Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, with SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
Experience : 3-5 years in benefits, leave administration, and HR functions, plus 1-2 years in management. Hospitality industry experience beneficial.
Knowledge : Expertise in employment laws and proficiency in Google Suite/Microsoft Office. Familiarity with HRIS systems, especially Ceridian Dayforce, and scheduling software like Brink or CTUIT.
Language Skills : Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Spanish language proficiency is advantageous.
Other Skills : Effective communication across organizational levels, agility in response to change, task prioritization, delegation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and leadership.
Other Abilities : Self-motivation, personability, attention to detail, integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and compassion.
Legal Experience : Familiarity with California law, preferably from the restaurant, retail, or hospitality sectors.
Work Environment : Primarily office-based with computer use; occasional restaurant setting work. Travel may be required up to 10%, with some night and weekend work.
