Job Title: Electrical Engineer Discrete Components
Advent Diamond is developing novel lab-grown diamond-based electronic components and is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Discrete Components to bring our new technology to the market. Our growing company is among the first in the US to specialize in diamond-based components for power systems, RF systems, and advanced sensors, giving the right candidate plenty of opportunities to grow.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Electrical Engineer role located in Scottsdale, AZ. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with a focus on microelectronic discrete devices, such as diodes and transistors, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in device physics and hands-on experience in characterizing, analyzing, and/or designing discrete semiconductor devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform characterizations of discrete semiconductor devices, including diodes and transistors, to assess their performance and reliability. Conduct measurements such as I-V curves, C-V curves, Smith charts, and DC, pulsed, and frequency-dependent parameters.
- Apply device physics knowledge to contribute to the design and optimization of discrete semiconductor devices.
- Contribute to identifying packaging options and working with packaging vendors to package microelectronic devices.
- Work with collaborators to integrate discrete devices into larger electronic systems.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in wide bandgap semiconductor technology.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on discrete semiconductor devices preferred.
- Proficiency in measurement techniques for discrete devices, and ability to interpret characterizations via a deep understanding of device physics. Specifically, the candidate should be able to apply knowledge of semiconductor physics, electrostatics, electromagnetism, RF physics, thermodynamics to understanding of discrete semiconductor devices.
- Familiarity with modeling devices using SPICE/LTSPICE simulation tools desired.
- Experience with physics-informed device design methodologies and optimization techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Desired experience with wide bandgap electronics, such as silicon carbide (SiC) or gallium nitride (GaN), including device characterization and design.
