The Behavioral Health Intake Specialist is responsible for conducting intake assessments, assisting with clinical data entry and billing, and scheduling therapy services with clients and clinicians. Overall, the Behavioral Health Intake Specialistcontributes to the CHS high performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions

1. Provides assessments of clients who participate in the Behavioral Health treatment programs utilizing all required forms and assuring quality of care.

  • Initiates contact with clients to determine need for clinical services.
  • Reviews referrals made to the Therapy Program, to include managing waitlist.
  • Conducts behavioral health assessments including consents, Child Behavior Checklists (CBCL), parental stress tests and bio-psycho socials.
  • Obtains required clinical and demographic data from patient and/or sources.
  • Reviews intake information for completeness and follows up on needed changes or additions.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation, billing, and program audit support.
  • Verifies benefit assignments for Medicaid.
  • Submits accurate encounter to billing within required timeframes.
  • Explains role, function and services of Behavioral Health to clients.
  • Assists Clinical Counselors with data entry and scheduling.
  • Provides patient services in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  • May provide clinical and supportive counseling services as needed.

2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.

  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
  • Comply with CHSs code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
  • Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or comparable human services related degree:
    • A comparable degree must have included graduate level coursework in four of the following: human growth and development; diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology; human sexuality; counseling theories and techniques; group theories and practice; dynamics of marriage and family systems; individual evaluation and assessment; career and lifestyle assessment; research and program evaluation; personality theories; social and cultural foundations; counseling in community settings; and substance use disorders.
  • Florida Drivers License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.

Experience:

  • One year of professional experience in providing services to persons with behavioral health disorders OR professional experience in providing services to persons with behavioral health disorders and the ability to be supervised by a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA), required.

Schedule Expectations

The incumbent will work a standard scheduled week, which may include weekends, holidays and evenings. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, incumbent will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours. Travel will be on an as-needed basis to conduct business-related activities.
