Duties & Responsibilities
•Teach aquatics-based merit badges and lessons
•Lead department staff, including admin items such as scheduling and training
•Present in front of group sizes of 2-24 youth and transfer knowledge
•Turn in advancement paperwork to supervisor in a timely manner
•Assist with the set-up, maintenance, and take down of program areas
•Participate and exhibit Scout Spirit at camp-wide programs and activities
•Provide First Aid as needed
•Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat and safe working area
•Other duties or projects as assigned by SBR leadership
•Abide by policies and procedure outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications & Training
•18 years of age or older
•Comfortable speaking in front of groups of youth and adults
•Current lifeguard certification (BSA Lifeguard or Red Cross etc.)
•Required 1+ yr. leading teams, prefer 1+ Summit employment
•Previous training experience preferred
•Ability to use Microsoft Teams daily for work related communication and coordination
•Be or become a registered member of Scouting America
Performance Results
•Provide at least one memorable moment that matters to a participant
•Contribute at least one improvement to Aquatics program operations
•Receive one or more Staff Appreciation Cards from staff or participants
•Complete contract period with 2-4 positive experiences
Physical Requirements
•Multiple hours a day of either standing, walking, paddling, swimming and ability to lift 50 lbs.
•Can pass the physical exam and approved for SBR height and weight requirements
