Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

GLFHC is currently seeking a Compliance Officer to join our team. The Compliance Officer coordinates the Health Center's Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body reporting to the CEO that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. Works collaboratively to ensure staff are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies; that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company's Standards of Conduct. The Compliance Officer manages the system used by the Health Center for incident reporting and the official documents required for ongoing operation of the health center including organizational policies and procedures and organizational licenses and certificates.

  • Oversee and monitor the development and implementation of Greater Lawrence Family Health Centers Compliance Program annual work plans.
  • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the Compliance Hotline; (b) heightened awareness of Standards of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures
  • Establishes and provides direction and management of the Compliance Hotline.
  • Monitors the performance of the Compliance Programs and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
  • Serves as a member of the Quality Council to integrate compliance initiatives with GLFHC system-wide projects and strategic aims, and to ensure review of compliance for inclusion in annually-determined organization-wide priorities
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. This includes the drafting and adoption of the Compliance Plan documents.
  • Manages and maintains complete, accurate files, ensure proper approvals and annual review of documents.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop or improve effective policies.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures:
    • are in compliance with health center regulations,
    • do not conflict and are not repetitive,
    • adhere to standard formatting and basic grammar.
  • Manages the Policies & Procedures Document Center in CONNECT for GLFHC to ensure that all current policies and procedures are readily available to all staff.
  • Obtains and documents required approvals from Senior Management Team and CEO prior to publishing changes to policies and procedures.
  • Leads the Safety & Sentinel Event Committee (SSEC).
  • Assists Human Resources Department with annual handbook and policy review, employee discipline related to compliance and unemployment hearings related to compliance terminations under the HIPAA Sanction policy.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department to develop effective compliance training programs, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and manage
  • Manages all regulatory audits from DPH, HRSA OSV, Joint Commission, and pharmacy third party audits
  • Collaborates with the SVP, Chief Pharmacy Officer to insure compliance with all 340b requirements across the health center.
  • Reports quarterly to the Patient Care & Quality Committee of the Board of Directors to summarize Compliance issue
  • Responsible for HRSA Form 5A, B, C.


Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in compliance regulatory in a healthcare organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to multi-task and work well under deadline pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Education
  • A Bachelor's degree or 5 years of relevant experience in compliance in healthcare.
  • Compliance Certification preferred.
