JOB SUMMARY: Conhagen-Texas seeks an experienced Welder with at least five years of experience. Must have basic knowledge of various metals and be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Welders support the Welding Department's daily operations and receive hands-on training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform GMAW, SMAW, Oxy-Acetylene welding, and brazing.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Utilize mechanical examples and resources as needed.
  • Understand welding practices and relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Use basic mathematics, such as geometry.
  • Develop quality work proficiency.
  • Learn equipment disassembly and cleaning procedures.
  • Assist with photo and visual inspections.
  • Use hand tools to cut and measure materials.
  • Help inspect critical components.
  • Handle, clean, and store parts properly.
  • Complete and submit documentation accurately.
  • Comply with H.S.E. regulations (OSHA included).
  • Communicate with supervisors, craftsmen, and coworkers.
  • Suggest procedural improvements.
  • May serve as a resource to less experienced individuals.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of tools like metal cut-off saws, band saws, grinders, drills, and tape measures.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Welding aptitude.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to stay on task and solve problems.
  • Attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Good attendance and punctuality.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and within a team.
  • Comprehend drawings and written instructions.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Weekend availability.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Welding certification and training.
  • Team player with leadership skills.
WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Primarily indoor shop setting.
  • Prolonged standing.
  • Direct supervision or assistance until proficient.
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Required PPE (eyeglasses and ear protection).
  • May work from ladders and in tight spaces.
  • Possible overtime and additional hours.
  • Interaction with employees, supervisors, and craftsmen.
  • Steel-toe boots required.
  • Shop uniforms provided or available at a reduced cost.
  • Tool purchasing program available.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and maneuver around machinery.
  • Adequate vision and hand-eye coordination.
  • Personal mobility within a shop environment.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and driven.
