What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a full stack developer who is ready to add value to existing applications and work with our team to create new solutions that solve our clients' needs. This person will work with a team as well as have end-to-end ownership of solution-development projects on occasion. The ideal candidate has experience building solutions across the stack and a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple back-end languages. An understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) concepts, data, and applications is ideal as well. The full stack developer will join a small team that uses new technology to solve challenges for both the front-end and back-end architecture, ultimately delivering amazing experiences for internal and external users.

Responsibilities:
  • Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences.
  • Assist in the maintenance of existing solutions.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality and application design.
  • Work with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunities.
  • Build and maintain web and mobile applications that are utilized by a wide range of internal and external client types.
  • Interface with internal and external clients to design and develop solutions that meet their specific needs.
  • Improve our overall application development process and continuously find ways to advance our applications.
  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Engage with project managers, engineering teams, and management consultants to understand the needs and translate to a scalable solution.
  • Remain current on technology trends to keep our software as innovative as possible.
Education & Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or engineering
  • 4-7 years of experience, 1-3 years building solutions
  • Experience in building web applications using various front-end and back-end languages: React/Angular, JavaScript/Typescript, Python, .NET
  • Experience in relational database management, design, and optimization. Strong SQL and T-SQL skills.
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) technology and data
  • Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent time management
  • Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies.
  • Familiarity with asset management principles
