JOB SUMMARY: As an Energy Market Data Analyst for our commercial team, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting vast sets of data related to energy markets. You will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable insights, synthesizing market information with government policy and regulatory trends, and contributing to the optimization of our energy operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data visualization, and an understanding of energy market dynamics and public policy.

Data Collection and Processing:

•Gather and organize large datasets from various sources, including market exchanges, industry reports, and internal databases.

•Implement data cleaning and validation processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.

•Collaborate with IT teams to enhance data collection processes and automate routine tasks.

Analysis and Modeling:

•Conduct statistical analysis and develop models to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in energy market data.

•Utilize machine learning techniques to enhance predictive modeling for market behavior.

•Provide insights into market and public policy factors influencing energy prices, supply and demand, and market volatility.

Data Visualization and Reporting:

•Create visually compelling dashboards and reports to communicate complex data findings.

•Present insights to internal stakeholders, translating data-driven results into actionable recommendations.

•Prepare fact sheets and key insights/talking points to support senior executive engagements with diverse audiences (e.g. government officials, industry and think tank events, investors, media); where required, assist with logistical support for these engagements.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data is effectively utilized in decision-making processes.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Up to 5% domestic or international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Energy or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within the energy or finance industry.
  • At least two years' relevant professional experience required.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, R, SQL) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Understanding of energy market concepts, including supply and demand and pricing mechanisms, and their interaction with geopolitics and public policy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
