The Position

Job Summary
  • Conduct Area Shift Inspections and reports safety concerns/necessary maintenance.
  • Confers with the Lead OIC on any special instructions.
  • Assist the Lead Operator in the start up, operation, and shut down Bird and Alfa Laval centrifuges and auxiliary equipment; inspects machinery/equipment for mechanical problems.
  • Coss trains in the operation of process equipment as assigned by the OIC.
  • Properly operate screening area for Aurora production.
  • Ensure prescribed tests and checks are performed
  • Ensure all tank and silo levels are measured according to the pre-established schedule and ensure measurements are received by the lead operator
  • Maintains Tetra Sodium Pyrophosphate (TSPP) chemical feeders
  • Measures silos and checks for over filling
  • Cleans area as indicated by the work instructions
  • Reported any estimated clay losses to the lead operator
  • Assist the OIC in the start up, operation and shut down of blunger and auxiliary equipment (chemical tanks, chemical pumps, water pump, blunger transportation pump and other transportation pumps); inspects machinery for mechanical problems and records data.
  • Assist in the start up, operation, and shut down of #3 and #4 spray dryers.
  • Operating designated loader, transports crude to blunger hopper in order to feed desired blend to blunger. Blend to be determined by the Production Supervisor.
  • Performs prescribed tests and checks and records data.
  • Operates slurry makedown system (process) efficiently and safely according to work instructions.
  • Determines the operating condition of slurry process equipment, i.e. feed systems, conveyor systems, dust collectors, chemical additions systems, pumps, and instruments.
  • Ensures the repair of process equipment through the use of work orders generated in electronic systems.
  • Assigns lot numbers for slurry product according to work instructions.
  • Gathers lot samples for testing and deliver samples to the QA lab.
  • Records process information on the appropriate operator report sheets and computer spreadsheets.
  • Prepares and inspects railcars for loading. Determines the fitness of approved containers for loading of products i.e. undamaged, free of contamination.
  • Performs sparging process of bulk railcars when necessary.
  • Follows IMERYS Railroad Safety Rules and Guidelines.
  • Wears appropriate safety protection, follows prescribed safety guidelines, and maintains clean and safe work areas.
  • Wears company issued radio at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by OIC or designee
