About the Role:

Fannie May, a division of Ferrero USA, a confectional chocolate factory located in North Canton, Ohio, is looking for a Health & Safety Intern to assist the Health and Safety Manager with the development, implementation and management of the site health & safety systems in a proactively manner. This individual will be responsible for studying leading & lagging indicators and implementing effective solutions, as needed with the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager. He or she will help to ensure compliance to government regulations, company policies, and promote continuous improvement with innovative solutions and creativity in mind. This individual will support plant operations by educating employees on health & safety, monitors health & safety systems for all personnel working in the facility, and routinely interacts with employees in their work areas.

This position is an INTERNSHIP that would Start end of May 2024 and will End at the end of August 2024. This is a 30 hours a week position and the schedule can be flexible. This is a PAID internship, however this position does not include; 401k, Health Insurance, Time off, ect. This is located in North Canton, Ohio. We are not offering RELOCATION OR HOUSING ASSISTANCE for any candidates outside of the area.

Main Responsibilities:
•Assist in Managing accident investigation/root cause analysis for accidents and near misses.
•Analyze incidents for root cause, severity and frequency.
•Maintain and monitor incident data within Ferrero Incident Monitoring System and make recommendations for prevention
•Maintain safety boards and/or communication tools up to date with pertinent health & safety information
•Supports the environmental sustainability initiative which helps to prevent costs due to waste, inefficiency, fines or legal matters and potentially increases sales as a good community member.

Who we are looking for:

  • Strong analytical, investigative, and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate good insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to learn site relevant federal and state OSHA, NFPA, ANSI requirements.
  • Experience required: EHS Background in either form of schooling and/or current work practice.
