Job Type:StaffJob Description:Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks a Sterilization Technician (ST) for a new dental school in Joplin, Missouri. Reporting to the Infection Control Officer, the qualified Sterilization Technician will be responsible for decontamination, sanitation, processing and storing of dental instruments and supplies as well as the maintenance, upkeep and quality assurance and testing of the decontamination and sterilization equipment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare and maintain sterile equipment for all dental procedures.Inspect instruments post-operatively for proper function or damage before returning them to stock room.Keep an inventory of needed supplies and order new items as needed for effective operation of the sterile processing department.Monitor sterilization process for instruments or equipment use during procedures.Ensure all necessary equipment is available and operational as needed.Maintain accurate records of all sterilized items, including item number, date, time, type of sterilizer used, and operator initials.Validate the sterility of processed instruments by performing biological and chemical testing.Conduct regular maintenance on autoclaves to ensure proper functioning and safety standards.Operate steam sterilizers, washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, dry heat ovens, and otherrelated equipment.Provide guidance and instructions to new staff members regarding sterile processing.Monitor inventory levels of supplies in order to maintain adequate stock at all times.QualificationsCertificate of completion of an accredited Surgical Professional programA minimum of 2 years' experience as a Sterilization ProfessionalEqual Opportunity EmployerKCU is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace.
