The Commercial Analyst will be based in Connellsville, PA and report directly to the Western Pennsylvania VP/GM.
  • Support the Western Pennsylvania MU sales and operations staff. Respond to requests for information, business analysis & reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating plans and quarterly forecasts. Review & analyze financials pertaining to the business. Partner with management on opportunities for improvements and/or to identify ways to meet goals.
  • Publish monthly variance analysis reports which explain factors driving volume, price and cost results relative to comparative benchmarks (plan, prior periods, etc.) using Essbase, Business Objects and Oracle.
  • Generate production oriented KPIs (down to the site level), including the development of both concepts and measures including the direction of personnel in the use of systems to facilitate reporting and analysis.
  • Investigate and address substantial inventory and manufacturing variances.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and provide recommendations and an implementation plan for an improving them by collaborating with all interested parties whether sales, engineering, accounting, or production.
  • Create cost models allowing for the what-if decisions for plant performance.
  • Identify strategic and key business opportunities within the market and ensure these opportunities are converted into new business activity.
  • Create reports detailing low or negative gross margin products, ensure costing and pricing methodologies are accurate, and collaborate with sales, production and engineering for corrective actions where necessary.
  • Effectively maintain a pipeline of further business activity from existing customers and generate new business customers while ensuring a high level of service offering to all. Network with key supplier outlets (e.g. developers, construction companies, major infrastructure, and industry bodies) and become actively involved with the aim of monitoring industry development and providing information.
  • Assist in the preparation of quotes and submission of tenders.
  • Proactively collaborate with customers & internal stakeholders to achieve desired win-win outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to "add value" and contribute to the success of our customers' businesses.
  • Achieve territory/account sales volume targets as well as new product volume targets.
  • Collaboratively, work with and influence the Region's customer service teams within the territory.
  • Attend industry functions as needed (e.g. industry events and conferences).
  • Be actively involved in the preparation of annual sales budgets for the relevant territory.
Here's What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
  • Minimum one to five (1-5) years' relevant experience in financial analysis process for large organizations and supporting capex investment decisions.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • High attention to detail, solid organizational skills.
  • Solid written, verbal communication, planning and networking skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Understand how standard costs are calculated and validate their accuracy.
  • Extensive knowledge in Excel, Business Objects, cost accounting and Oracle ERP system.
Work Environment
  • Role operates primarily in an office environment but requires regular travel, conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
