Job DescriptionSUMMARYThe Planner provides a safe operating environment by planning installation, maintenance and repair of machines, tools, equipment and utility systems. The Maintenance Planner works with the Engineering and Maintenance Manager in developing the scheduled maintenance programs and processes for the production facility to minimize impact on production. The Planner pre-evaluates the need for replacement parts and places orders. The Planner plans for interruptions in work and develops backup plans to minimize the interruptions for the mill. The Planner ensures that all accounting and supply chain procedures and policies are followed in relation to performing his or her duties.The Maintenance Planner is the on-site coach, trainer, motivator and expeditor of materials and personnel.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning maintenance work orders, the repairs, servicing and efficient functioning of all machinery and equipment in the plant.The Maintenance Planner will work with the Purchasing Manager to manage spare parts.The Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Managers will work together with Operations to meet present and future goals.The Maintenance Planner will provide required technical documentation. Technical Documentation will include Drawings (PID, flow charts, etc.).The Maintenance Planner supports the written Safety Program that facilitates continuous improvement in the severity and frequency of accidents, resulting in no Lost Time Accidents and ensuring the safety of all employees.Planner's duties would include managing maintenance data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide the planned maintenance service in future utilization of mill CMMS software.To keep operating equipment in the condition to deliver full design duty (reliability), to insure plant and equipment run properly when it is required for operation, to correct equipment and machines when the design duty cannot be achieved and then return them to design specification, and maintain assets most profitably for the life of the organization.Organizes training and provides appropriate documentation of training.Prepares Technical Documentation to include:Drawings (PID, flow charts, etc.)Experience in Cad or smart draw or equivalent computer aided drafting software.SpecificationsSpare parts listCritical operations OEM manuals.Updates and facilitates the work-order process in CMMS.LANGUAGE SKILLSAble to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints, P ID's, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAble to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Leadingroot cause analysis and problem solving teams. Analytical and field troubleshooting skills. TECHNICAL SKILLSWorking knowledge of mechanical and electricalmachinery, including pumps, conveyor systems, breakers, boilers, hydraulic andpneumatic systems, etc. Knowledge of computer systems and the ability to learnnew complex applications. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSWill be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
