Underwriter Public Auto Description
Our client, an insurance wholesaler, is looking for an experienced Public Auto Underwriter to join their team in Mahwah, NJ. Reporting to the President, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting insurance policies specifically tailored for public vehicles such as buses, taxis, limousines, and other commercial vehicles used for passenger transportation. Your primary focus will be on assessing risks, determining appropriate coverage, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining profitability for the insurance company. Underwriter Public Auto Responsibilities

Review new submissions for compliance with underwriting guidelines and programs

Examine documents to determine and evaluate the degree of risk

Rate risk and initiate quotes from carriers

Decline risks with excessive loss history

Prepare loss models, driver reviews, and overall account evaluation, making recommendations

Qualify risk with agents for price targets and important factors about accounts

Follow up on quotes to ask for bind orders

Correspond with agents and follow up on items for new business or renewal accounts.

Submit bind orders to carriers and review documentation received

Send out binders and invoices to agents

Review renewal accounts and accept or decline 90 days prior to expiration date

Provide general support to the team for new procedures and pricing input for best practices
Underwriter Public Auto Qualifications

5+ years of experience as an Auto Underwriter required

Experience with MGA/MGUs required

Agency Management System knowledge required

Knowledge of ISO policies and rate filings required
