Intermountain Electronics, Inc. is seeking a General Manager for our Denver, Co production facility. IE is a leading provider of custom engineered and manufactured process and electrical systems to the renewable energy sector, oil & gas, mining, data center, and power/utility industries in North America. IE's turnkey products are generally mobile - mounted on skids or in portable e-houses. Our products include electrical control rooms (MCCs/VFDs/Switchgear), portable power/generators, substations, water-flood/disposal buildings, compressor skids, metering equipment, mining power skids, battery storage skids and other products used in multiple sectors.

Summary:

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of business management in the Denver facility and is thus accountable for the full P&L (both top and bottom-line results). Responsibilities include 1) strong customer management, 2) efficient production/manufacturing operations, and 3) effective facility support operations. Management responsibilities include: planning and scheduling, project engineering and management, production management (includes: procurement, welding/fabrication, paint, electrical wiring and assembly, facility/equipment maintenance), quality, safety, and facility-related human resources and finance/reporting activities.

Major Job Duties:

Strategic / Commercial / customer related activities
  • Represent Denver Facility in company-wide annual strategic planning processes
  • Ensure prioritization of critical regional accounts and sectors
  • Identify and Address any facility competitiveness issues, whether commercial (pricing, relationships, customer service) or operations driven (cost, schedule, quality)
  • Provide facility "application engineering" and technical support to help close important sales / accounts
  • Identify key industry trends or changing customer needs- work with corporate to ensure company prioritization and sufficient investment
Operations/Safety
  • Manage production to annual (and monthly/quarterly) delivery and margin goals; ensure effective communication to production team on progress against monthly and annual goals
  • Oversee capacity planning and shop-loading/scheduling
  • In "crunch time", make necessary trade-offs between individuals customer delivery requirements, company overtime, and lead times/order booking
  • Hold engineering and manufacturing accountable to productivity and schedule goals; use dashboards to track key performance indicators, measure progress, and hold supervisors accountable.
  • Ensure all quality standards are met;
  • Lead from the top in establishing safety culture; take all steps required to ensure compliance with internal and external environmental, safety, and health standards
  • Responsible for supporting facility safety programs and training and following applicable laws and company policies
  • Ensure proper resourcing and execution of company strategic initiatives
  • Establish environment for continuous improvement; lead development of plans for profit improvement, cost reduction, etc. as required by business conditions
Personnel, HR, and facility back-office support
  • Lead annual planning and budgeting processes for facility - both capital and operations budgets - ensure effective returns on capital
  • Hire / fire in accordance with approved plan
  • Oversee performance management and evaluation of facility workforce; including mentoring, training, and professional development; assist in resolving complaints and disciplining employees
  • Report on financials and KPIs to management on monthly basis.
Supervisory /Leadership Accountability
  • Oversee facility day-to-day operations and work schedule; set priorities
  • Ensure all operational and business functions are carried out with the highest standards of quality and efficiency
  • Perform effective internal conflict resolution, employee reviews and disciplinary action as needed
  • Establish performance improvement initiatives
  • Train new staff
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct ongoing training with staff
  • Supervise staff effectively, maintain open communications and manage conflicts
  • Lead by example
Salary Range: $170K-$220K depending on experience

Experience and Skills
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Production Management, Business Administration, Engineering or other technical discipline
  • Minimum seven years of high level manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in an industrial/electrical products industry
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully lead a manufacturing organization in achieving targets
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and coach employees
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Track record of managing and delivering quality products on time
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize / prioritize work, to stay current with assigned workload and to problem solve
  • Knowledge of standard fabrication production processes, procedures, machinery & safe work practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access) as well as manufacturing ERP software
  • Knowledge of basic Human Resource laws, regulations and administration
  • Ability to perform effective internal conflict resolution, employee reviews and disciplinary action as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
