Job Description: Performs general office clerical work in support of treasurer department operations. The work involves receiving and processing payments due to the County and issuing licenses; workers respond to taxpayer inquiries in person and by telephone. The work also involves the processing of deeds. The work requires prior experience in office clerical work. The work is performed under close to general supervision of administrative staff.
Essential Job Functions
Receives, verifies, and processes payments to the County such as water and sewer payments, and taxes. Calculates amounts for tax bills.
Acts as primary deed examiner, including intake, vetting, and approval.
Verifies expenditure vouchers and prepares purchase requisitions.
Processes and handles related clerical tasks associated with deeds.
Processes tax and water sewer bills and settles cash registers.
Collects payments for and issues animal and liquor licenses.
Assists and responds to inquiries from the public regarding taxes, payments, licenses and related matters. Answers telephone calls and processes incoming mail.
Disburses petty cash.
Assists with the tax sale preparation; performs audits; and prepares reports as needed.
Maintains various databases for tax refunds, tax credits, and hotel/motel excise taxes
Performs general office clerical work as assigned.
Other Duties
Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of
- Modern office procedures and practices including operation of office appliances such as calculators and computers.
- Provide quick, courteous and efficient service to the public.
- Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Use a computer to work on spreadsheets and financial/accounting software.
- Perform general office clerical work quickly and efficiently.
- Deal effectively with the public.
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)
Training and/or Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Three years dealing with the public in a customer service setting that includes cash handling, payment processing, and recording financial transactions.

Physical Demands:
Workers operate keyboard devices for sustained periods.
Unusual Demands:
Work is subject to frequent interruptions.

Compensation Steps:
Position closing date: August 28, 2024
Pay rate: $25.25 per hour; $45,955 annually
Grade 718, 35 hours per week
