Customer Service Representative

This position is a great opportunity to learn the Customer Serviceside of our growing business with ATS Specialized, Inc. The position will work closely and learn the day to day responsibilities of a Customer Service Representative; the goal of the position is to strengthen and enhance the growth and stability of ATS Specialized, Inc. by implementing sound marketing and customer service principles to develop and service customers in accordance with company and department quality, sales, utilization, and profit objectives, and serving as liaison between the customer and ATS operations. Measurable day to day objectives after training: Promotes and sells ATS service to active, inactive, and potential customers in accordance with company and department quality, sales, utilization, and profit objectives. Contacts active, inactive, and potential customers to sell ATS service to them through inside sales efforts (i.e., telemarketing, e-mail). Responds to customers' requests for service, providing information, entering load information into computerized system, and negotiating terms and conditions of sales (i.e., rates, credit, special instructions). Qualifies new customers by matching ATS and customer needs (geographics, products, objectives, etc.). Maintains accurate records, researches and develops accounts, and reports on account activity. Communicates with the ATS regional account managers to assess and distribute current information on the development and needs of customers. Provides professional, courteous customer service by serving as liaison between customers and ATS operations. Assigns all inbound trucks in accordance with company and department quality, utilization, driver retention, and profit objectives, matching the needs, qualifications, and availability of customers, drivers, and equipment, and coordinating the balance of unassigned freight with Sureway Transportation. Communicates current customer needs with operations staff and obtaining pick-up/delivery directions as needed. Obtains credit approval on customers' loads by verifying current credit status, working with the Credit Department, and making C.O.D. arrangements as needed. Communicates with customers and ATS personnel to answer questions, and investigate/resolve problems as needed. Participates in departmental and individual goal-setting and achievement. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities, as assigned. Education and Experience A good understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles usually gained through 1 - 2 years of training in related area and/or equivalent related experience. Must have excellent oral communication, interpersonal, analytical, customer relations, sales, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Must have general knowledge of U.S. geography and basic map-reading skills. Must be able to operate basic office machines including telephone, 10-key, and Personal Computer. Competencies Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently. Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects. Must be analytical with the ability to apply data. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be proficient in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required. Must be able to both think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects. Must be able to demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff. Measurable Objectives Meets all company and department objectives and deadlines (i.e., revenue/week/truck, percent loaded, total cpm, gross revenue). Follows all company and department policies and procedures. Completes all duties in accordance with sound marketing and customer service principles.
