Summary Coordinates and conducts activities concerned with the Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality of manufacturing processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to this position. Conducts or coordinates the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration of new products to assure their quality. Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including ISO, vendor quality manuals and company quality records. Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods where applicable for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and proposed process changes. Organizes and has the ability to lead Lean manufacturing activities to remove waste from production processes, and increase the potential for through put. Applies Lean Six Sigma methodology where applicable to improve production capability and eliminate quality defect root cause. Reviews all purchased products and components and provides input into the decisions of whether to accept these products and future purchases from the vendors. Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and ISO procedures. Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management. Prepares reports and charting to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities. Prepares and presents technical information to team members and management. Assists Quality Manager in directing employees engaged in quality assurance activities. Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards. Supports Division Quality Assurance in the attainment of necessary projects and programs. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has direct supervisory responsibilities for hourly employees during the absence of the Quality Manager. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Business, Engineering, or other related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. External and/or internal training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma are necessary for the execution of the duties for this position. RAB Certified ISO Lead Auditor training should be completed and passed by the person holding this position. Certifications must be maintained at the latest version of the ISO Standard. The person holding this position must exemplify adequate computer skills to perform all aspects of the position which include limited computer programming, new software evaluation, new software implementation, and software input including new program development. Language Skills Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, external auditors, vendors, customers and employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply statistical processes to test validity of current and/or new manufacturing techniques to improve quality of parts manufactured. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables at the same time.
