Our first proof of concept protein, Casein, is a complex and unstructured dairy protein that gives cheese its stretch, melt, and much of its protein nutrients. We are beginning public tastings of our animal-free mozzarella via our brand Nobell Foods in 2025 and are quickly expanding into other high value proteins. About the Role: As Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the Alpine Bio Compliance Program. In this capacity, you will work closely with the Field Operations Team to plan and execute regulated activities, including domestic and international shipments and field trials. You will be responsible for acquiring permits, compiling regulatory compliance documentation, and reporting to government agencies. You will provide regulatory compliance guidance to internal stakeholders. This role requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail as well as ability to clearly communicate both internally and externally. Prior experience handling regulated material and/or familiarity with USDA permitting requirements is preferred. This role, which reports to the Senior Director of Regulatory, will require significant travel to field trial locations in the Midwest and can be remote, as Alpine Bio Headquarters is in South San Francisco, California. Responsibilities: Drive the execution of Alpine Bio’s regulatory compliance program by providing input and oversight of R&D, product development, and commercialization activities for a range of genetically engineered traits and products in soybean. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop regulatory compliance conditions for movement and field release of genetically engineered soybeans in alignment with regulations and Alpine Bio internal Stewardship Program. Prepare and manage the submission of permits to enable Alpine Bio activities, including in-season and postseason reporting. Prepare the team for, and participate in inspections, demonstrating Alpine Bio compliance with regulations and requirements. Coordinate the import and export of regulated plant materials with internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to support tracking and organization of regulatory information. Required Skills and Experience: A B.S. or M.S. in a field applicable to plant science, biotechnology, or similar Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in agricultural industry, including regulatory, compliance, quality, field operations, or similar Ability to travel to field sites as needed Strong collaborative relationship skills and demonstrated ability to drive outcomes from cross functional teams Organized and efficient worker who can deliver on tight timelines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work successfully independently as well as with a team Prior experience working with regulated material is preferred Closing: The pay range is currently between $62,000 to $119,000 in annual gross compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including primary work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
