Job Description

The Purchasing Specialist position is responsible for maintaining inventories of "in-date" and properly stored medications required for patient care. This position is responsible for ordering of drug products and related supplies, management of the drug inventory, maintenance of information system drug data file, update list prices after Medispan update, handling of recalled and expired drugs, managing drug borrow/loan activities, and processing drug supply orders according to agency guidelines for cost, quality, collaborative product selection decisions, and vendor selection. When necessary, this position will perform the day-to-day Pharmacy Technician or Assistant support duties.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of pharmacy technician school.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree. or equivalent education/ experience,
  • Coursework in purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain management.
  • 3 years practical experience with ordering medications and supplies in a pharmacy setting.
  • Experience with purchasing and inventory control.
  • Computer experience with CPR+, QS1 and EPIC.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

About the Team

Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.

HCC provides a full range of services and support for people of all ages, especially those facing chronic or life-limiting illnesses.
