SENIOR BUYERLocation: Montgomery, ALDepartment: Supply Chain / ProcurementReports To: Procurement Manager / Supply Chain DirectorJob Summary:As a Senior Buyer at Viscofan, you will play a critical role in sourcing and procuring raw materials, packaging, and essential supplies needed for the production of casings and related products. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to manage supplier relationships, ensure timely delivery, and drive cost-saving initiatives. You will collaborate closely with internal teams such as Manufacturing, R&D, and Logistics to meet production needs and support the company's overall objectives.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods that align with Viscofan's supply chain objectives.Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms. Continuously monitor supplier performance to maintain a robust supply chain.Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules, optimizing cost efficiency and mitigating supply chain risks.Inventory Optimization: Work with inventory and production planning teams to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding shortages and overstock situations.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulations. Manage and mitigate supplier risks by diversifying supply sources.Cost Reduction & Process Improvement: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements in procurement without compromising quality.Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier performance. Prepare reports on key procurement metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory status.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams such as Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and R&D to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and project requirements.Sustainability & Innovation: Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing eco-friendly materials and exploring innovative procurement practices that align with Viscofan's environmental goals.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (CPM, CSCP) are a plus.Experience: 5+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food processing, with a focus on raw materials, packaging, or indirect goods.Skills:Strong negotiation and supplier management skillsAnalytical mindset with data interpretation and decision-making capabilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Microsoft ExcelAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentLanguages: Proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
